Scholarships= FREE MONEY TO GO TO COLLEGE!!!!
This page will frequently be updated with scholarship opportunities, so check here or in the counselors office often!
The number one question I hear from students and parents is "How can we get scholarships?" There isn't one answer. Scholarships are a form of financial aid that does NOT have to be repaid, kind of like free money! They can come from a variety of sources including, colleges, businesses, and community organizations. It's your job to get out there and find them. Your search may turn up local, regional, and national scholarships with eligibility based on GPA, test scores, interests, community involvement, race, religion... basically anything under the sun. Some are awarded automatically, while others require an essay or project. You may find a scholarship that is paid out in one lump sum, while another is divided by semester. There is something out there for every student.
A good place to start your search is college websites. Many schools offer automatic scholarships to incoming freshmen based on academic performance or financial need. Make sure to fill out your FAFSA! Check with your college to see if there is a separate application for scholarships. Scholarship deadline may be months before the actual application deadline. Keep in mind, there may be tons of other students competing for the same scholarships as you, so it is super important to meet deadlines! Most applications will not even be considered after the deadline has passed.
There are also plenty of FREE online scholarship search engines. Try sites like FastWeb, College Board, FinAid, and Scholarships.com. There is a more extensive list on the resources page. Scholarships are FREE money; you should NEVER have to pay to apply for them! Avoid scholarship sites that ask for credit card information, have a 100% guarantee, or offer "professional" financial aid services for a fee
Good Luck!
